What is the best natural treat for dogs?

The best natural treat depends on what you're using it for and every dog is different. For everyday rewards and training, soft natural treats, such as Denzel's soft bites, made from 100% natural ingredients and gently baked in the UK, are a popular choice because they're easy to portion and highly motivating. For a more premium, high-value reward, WOOOF stocks options like Pet Munchies Beef Liver Sticks and Pet Munchies Natural Venison Strips, both made from 100% natural, human-grade meat and ideal for those moments when you really need your dog's attention. If dental health is a priority, natural dental chews such as Whimzees are made from all-natural ingredients with no preservatives, sugars, grains, or GM ingredients and offer a dual benefit of rewarding your dog and keeping their teeth clean. For training specifically, look at WOOOF's natural dog training treats, which includes single-protein, grain-free options designed to be small, low-calorie and used frequently. Ultimately, the best natural treat is one suited to your dog's size, taste preferences and any dietary requirements. WOOOF's natural dog treats collection has a wide range to help you find the right fit.

How long do natural dog treats last?

The shelf life of natural dog treats varies depending on how they're made. Because natural treats contain no artificial preservatives, they typically have a shorter shelf life than heavily processed alternatives, which is a sign of their quality, not a drawback. As a general guide, dried and air-dried treats (such as meat strips, fish bites, or natural chews) tend to last longest unopened, often 6–12 months, as the low moisture content inhibits bacterial growth. Freeze-dried treats like COYA Freeze-Dried Raw Adult Dog Treats also have a good shelf life, as the freeze-drying process removes moisture while locking in nutrients and flavour. Soft-baked natural treats, such as Denzel's range, are lower in moisture than dried options and typically have a shorter window once opened. Dog pâté and paste-style treats should be refrigerated after opening and used within a few days. The best approach is always to check the best-before date on the individual product and follow any open/close storage instructions on pack. If you buy in bulk or want to make the most of discounts, WOOOF's treats sale features natural treats approaching their best-before date at a reduced price, perfectly safe and great value.

How should I store natural dog treats?

Because natural dog treats contain no artificial preservatives, correct storage is especially important to maintain freshness and safety. For most dried or air-dried natural treats, such as meat strips, fish bites or natural chews: store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Once opened, always reseal the packet tightly or transfer to an airtight container to slow moisture absorption and preserve the treat's texture and smell. Dog food storage containers are ideal for decanting opened packets and keeping everything fresh and accessible. For soft-baked natural treats, the same cool, dry storage applies, but pay close attention to the recommended use-by-once-opened guidance on the packet, as higher moisture content means they can deteriorate faster. Dog pâté and paste treats must be refrigerated after opening and consumed within the timeframe stated on the packaging, typically 2–3 days. Freeze-dried treats are more shelf-stable, but should still be resealed after each use and kept away from damp conditions. As a general rule: cool, dry, airtight and away from direct light will give any natural treat the best chance of lasting to its best-before date.
