What is the best squeaky toy for dogs?

The best squeaky toy for your dog depends on how they like to play. On Wooof, squeaky toys come in a variety of styles, from soft plush toys with fun shapes and textures to interactive enrichment toys and fetch-ready designs that keep playtime engaging. For example, some toys are designed for tugging and fetching, while others include snuffle features or hidden treat slots to add mental stimulation. Toys made with different textures or durable materials can also help keep dogs interested for longer. In general, the “best” option is one that matches your dog’s size, chewing strength and whether they prefer cuddly, interactive or active play.

Are squeak toys good for dogs?

Yes, squeaky toys can be great for dogs when used appropriately. Wooof’s collection highlights how these toys are designed to deliver excitement, encourage play and keep dogs engaged with sounds, textures and interactive features. From a general behaviour perspective, the squeak adds stimulation and can make play sessions more rewarding, helping to keep dogs mentally and physically active. Many toys also support enrichment activities, like hiding treats or encouraging problem-solving. As with any toy, supervision and choosing the right durability level for your dog are important.

Why is my dog crying when using a squeak toy?

It’s not unusual for dogs to whine or cry when playing with squeaky toys. The squeak can trigger natural instincts and excitement and some dogs become emotionally engaged with the toy during play. In many cases, this behaviour is linked to: - Overstimulation or excitement during play - A dog treating the toy like “prey” - Wanting attention or interaction from you Since Wooof’s toys are designed to encourage interactive and engaging play sessions, this kind of reaction can simply be your dog getting very invested in the experience.

What squeaky dog toys do vets recommend?

Vets generally recommend squeaky toys that are safe, durable and suited to your dog’s play style. Based on the Wooof collection, good options include: - Soft but durable plush toys for gentle play - Interactive or enrichment toys that stimulate your dog mentally - Tug and fetch toys designed for active play Many toys in the collection combine features like durability, soft textures and enrichment elements (e.g. treat-hiding or multi-texture designs), which align with what vets typically look for in a well-rounded toy. The key is choosing a toy that your dog can enjoy safely without easily damaging or swallowing parts.

Product Details

ZippyPaws Christmas Burrow Dog Toy Santa's Milk and Cookies brings a little Christmas magic to your dog's toy collection with a fun twist on the traditional festive treat left out for Santa.

The plush milk carton acts as a little hideaway for three removable Cookie Miniz. Tuck the cookies inside and let your dog work out how to retrieve them, using their nose and paws to investigate the different openings in the carton.

Once all three cookies have been discovered, simply hide them away again and start the game from scratch. The individual cookies can also be used separately for interactive play, giving your dog more than one way to enjoy the set.

Each cookie has its own round squeaker, adding an extra element of sound as your dog discovers and plays with them.

Sizing

Approximately 7 x 4 x 8 inches

Instructions

1. Place the three cookies inside the milk carton and introduce the toy to your dog. You can initially show them how the cookies go into the carton and encourage them to investigate the openings.

2. Once your dog has worked out how to retrieve the cookies, put them back inside for another round of hide-and-seek.

3. The Cookie Miniz can also be removed and enjoyed separately for interactive games.

Materials & Care

Materials

The toy is made from soft plush materials and contains stuffing and internal squeakers. The set consists of one larger milk carton and three smaller plush Cookie Miniz. The stuffing is made from 100% recycled materials in its plush toys.

Care

For cleaning, follow the manufacturer's care guidance and clean the plush components as needed. Allow the toy to dry fully before giving it back to your dog.

Regularly check the milk carton, cookies, stitching and squeakers for signs of wear. Because the cookies are removable, they should be monitored particularly closely during play.
