Enrichment. If you’ve got a dog, especially a high-energy one, you know how important that word is. For my golden retriever Milo, enrichment is a daily necessity. I’m the content writer for WOOOF, which means I spend a lot of time thinking and writing about ways to improve our dogs’ lives - and testing them out on the best and most demanding product tester I know: Milo.
Milo is four years old now, but you’d swear he’s still six months the way he zooms around the house and stares at me with those irresistible puppy eyes and a rope toy in his mouth while I’m trying to work. Tiring him out is not without trying. We walk a lot, usually two hours a day, and he has plenty of toys to keep him busy. But he often needs a real form of mental enrichment to feel satisfied. It just goes to show how important enrichment in dogs really is.
Over the years, I’ve poured a lot of time and money into trying to find dog enrichment toys that actually work for him. And by “work,” I mean last longer than five minutes and don’t end up shredded to pieces all over the living room. He’s a big dog with big teeth and zero patience for anything that doesn’t seriously engage him. I’ve tried several lick mats that have sadly been chewed to death and even Kongs filled with frozen peanut butter, which although withstand his teeth, are typically emptied in under ten minutes.
So when the team at WOOOF offered to send us their Pupsicle enrichment toy, specifically the Superchewer version made for strong chewers like Milo, I was curious and hopeful. So the question is, does the Woof Pupsicle Toy pass the Milo test?
The Woof Pupsicle Toy Superchewer bundle arrived well packaged and in style. It was all wrapped together in lovely bright orange tissue paper that perfectly matched WOOOF’s branding and inside, there was more than just the Pupsicle itself.
For Milo, we went with the XL Superchewer in black since this one is designed especially for the dogs who treat toys like a personal challenge to destroy. But if your pup is a bit gentler or smaller, there’s also the standard Green Pupsicle Toy in different sizes to match. It’s great that they’ve thought about the variety of dog personalities and chewing styles.
Alongside the Pupsicle, we got a pack of Pupsicle Pops, refill treats designed to slot perfectly into the toy. They’re round, pre-made, totally mess-free, and made with ingredients that are delicious and good for our pups. The ingredients include peanut butter, banana, pumpkin powder, and blueberry powder.
It’s a really great combination of ingredients, not just because most dogs love them but each one offers some sort of benefit to our dog’s health. For example, peanut butter is a solid protein source while banana is rich in potassium and fibre. Pumpkin is amazing for digestion and blueberries are packed with antioxidants. Basically, the Pupsicle Pops are doggy super-snacks in a neat little ball.
Also included in the bundle was the Pupsicle Treat Tray, which I absolutely love the idea of. It means on days when Milo’s feeling fancy, or I’ve run out of the pre-made Pops, I can make my own frozen creations. Chicken stock, finely chopped veggies, berries, plain yogurt, you name it and I’m excited to try it. I already know I’m going to keep a stash of DIY Pupsicle treats in the freezer for quick enrichment sessions.
When I finally took the Woof Pupsicle Toy out of the box, I was seriously impressed with how durable and strong it felt. It’s got some serious weight to it, and you can just tell it’s made to withstand the jaws of destruction. Setup also took literally ten seconds. You just unscrew the toy, pop in a Pupsicle Pop, screw it shut, and done.
Milo, of course, couldn’t wait. He was already nosing at the packaging before I even had a chance to finish taking my unboxing photos. Pretty sure he could smell the peanut butter through the box. Then once I handed it over, it was game on.
As soon as I handed Milo the Woof Pupsicle Toy, he grabbed it like it was the best thing he'd ever been given and bolted straight for his favourite sunny spot in the garden. He flopped down, tail wagging, and immediately started licking away. Safe to say, the combination of banana, peanut butter, and blueberries is a win in Milo’s book.
One thing I noticed right away is how the Pupsicle Toy's rounded design makes it roll around a bit as he tries to get at the treat inside. That meant Milo had to keep adjusting, using his paws to hold it in place or reposition it to get the right angle. It wasn’t just licking, he was thinking, problem-solving, figuring out the best way to work for his food. That’s the best kind of enrichment. Mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise for dogs and this toy really encourages that kind of engagement.
So, first impressions from Milo were very positive. But for me, the biggest question was how long would it last? And maybe more importantly, would it survive Milo’s teeth? I’m happy and honestly a bit shocked to say this is easily one of the most durable and long-lasting enrichment toys I’ve ever tried.
Woof says each Pupsicle Pop should last around 30–40 minutes, which sounded optimistic to me at first. But as I write this, Milo has been going at his Pupsicle for over an hour, and he’s still not finished. He’s loving every minute, and when I tried to sneak a peek inside to see how much was left, he ran off with it like I was trying to steal his most prized possession. So yeah, it’s safe to say he’s a fan.
I also caught him gnawing gently at the Woof Pupsicle Toy in between licks, and so far, other than a few tiny teeth dents – as you’d expect – it’s holding up perfectly. The design really helps here too. Since it’s large and rounded, it’s not easy for him to grip with his back teeth, which are the ones responsible for destroying most of his toys. I genuinely believe this is going to last us a long time, which is honestly such a relief. Enrichment toys that survive Milo are rare.
To really put it to the test, I timed it. It took Milo exactly 1 hour and 13 minutes to finish an entire Pupsicle Pop. That’s record-breaking in our house. No other toy or treat combo has lasted that long.
And the clean up was also super simple. Once he was done, I just unscrewed the two halves of the toy, gave it a good rinse and scrub in the sink, and dried it off. But even better, it’s completely dishwasher safe, so when I’m feeling lazy, which is most of the time to be honest, I can just pop it in and let the dishwasher do the work.
It’s safe to say the Woof Pupsicle Toy has been a success in our house. I knew it was going to be good because truthfully, anything WOOOF does is enrichment gold, but even then, it’s impressed me more than I imagined. From the thoughtful packaging to the clever design, the high-quality ingredients in the Pops, and the fact it’s still standing after an hour of Milo-powered gnawing, I’m really blown away.
Will I be ordering more Pupsicle Pops for our Pupsicle Toy? I may or may not have already hit “checkout” on a top-up bundle while Milo was still mid-lick. And would I recommend it to other dog owners? Absolutely, especially if you’ve got an avid chewer like Milo who usually demolishes enrichment toys in minutes. This is the first time I’ve genuinely seen a toy keep his attention and survive his teeth.
